It is not just golf fans who view the Ryder Cup as the third-biggest sporting event in the world after the Olympic Games and the Football World Cup. The biennial team competition between the top golfers from the USA and Europe is an electrifying event, which cannot be compared to any other golf tournament.
BMW’s link with the Ryder Cup began in 2006 when it became the Official Car Partner at the K Club in Ireland. BMW has since had a presence at each Ryder Cup match, both in Europe and the United States, and took a leading role as an Official Partner at Celtic Manor (Wales) in 2010, Gleneagles (Scotland) in 2014, and Le Golf National (France) in 2018.
BMW extended its influence on both sides of the Atlantic in November 2018: The commitment of BMW to the game of golf worldwide has been further strengthened with the announcement that the company is to become the Worldwide Partner of The Ryder Cup for the matches between the United States and Europe at Whistling Straits in 2020 and again at Rome in 2022.
