8-speed M Steptronic with Drivelogic.
The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: extremely dynamic, particularly comfortable and smooth, fuel-saving. You can shift manually using the gear lever or the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, or select one of three automatic programmes using Drivelogic.
M xDrive.
M xDrive with Active M Differential guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The optional M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. Front design.
The front design of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive is a statement of technical purism. Placed at the centre is the bold character of the M kidney grille in a reduced interpretation for maximum dynamic effect. In a frameless design for the first time ever, the completely black kidney grille with horizontal M typical double louvres permits the maximum throughput of cooling air for the high-revving M power unit. Together with the narrow light tubes of the headlights, the large central air inlet with its trapezoidal shape impressively concludes the front design.
Side design.
The side view of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive conveys concentrated power and dynamics. The black carbon roof and the aerodynamically optimised sill area inspired by motorsport press the silhouette of the vehicle even closer to the road both optically and physically. The optional M specific exterior mirrors in carbon and the M gills with model logo impressively round off the sporty appearance alongside the distinctive M forged wheels.

CFRP roof.
As part of BMW's intelligent lightweight construction, the carbon roof made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) helps to reduce the car's mass, and shifts the car's centre of gravity lower. This leads to an increase in agility and dynamics when taking a bend, accelerating and braking.
Rear design.
The rear of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive testifies to its power and athleticism. Two M typical twin tailpipes protrude from the rear section as sporty statement – framed by an optional carbon diffuser with distinctive vertical fins. M Carbon ceramic brake.
The M Carbon ceramic brake delivers braking power more directly. It contributes to a lower vehicle weight, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The technical equipment is visible through carbon-ceramic brake discs and calipers in the colour Gold matt with M lettering on the front and rear axle on the outside. Due to specific material properties, increased operating noise may occur during braking, e.g. in case of prolonged, low load or in wet conditions shortly before vehicle standstill. The design-related noise can be avoided by braking the brake dry in case of wetness or loading the brake more heavily after a long, low braking load. The influence of wetness and road salt cause brake effectiveness to correspond to that of a conventional brake system. This reduced braking power can be compensated for with a greater pressure on the pedal. The functional noises have no influence on the performance, operational safety and stability of the brake.
Wheel housings front.

The Variable sport steering with Servotronic creates a direct and agile steering response and ensures that less physical effort is required to turn the wheel. It reacts to the angle of the steering wheel with varying steering ratios. This improves handling when driving more dynamically and reduces the effort needed to steer when parking and turning.
M sport differential.
The M sport differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of a bend, when taking bends at high speeds or on different road surfaces. Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
Steptronic Sports Transmission.
The 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission offers incredibly sporty gear changes. Whether automatic or manual using the selector lever or gearshift paddles – for comfortable coasting or incredibly dynamic driving. In SPORT mode and with the selector lever in the left-hand S/M position, the gear shifts are configured for the maximum performance.
M Sport brake.
The M Sport brake has four-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear in Blue metallic with the M logo and features large brake discs to ensure an outstanding braking performance. M specific instrument cluster.
The M specific instrument cluster offers a particularly precise and focused display of driving data in the SPORT and TRACK modes. In this way, values such as boost pressure or tyre pressure and temperatures are always in view, even on the race track. Operation and configuration is carried out using the M MODE button on the control unit in the centre console.
BMW Live Cockpit Professional.
The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation function includes two high-quality displays consisting of a high-resolution 10.25" Control Display that can be operated by touch and a fully digital 12.3" instrument display. The BMW Operating System 7 can also be operated via the iDrive Touch Controller.
M Setup.
The M Setup allows you to configure various driving dynamics parameters such as engine, transmission and steering characteristics, damper settings, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) control intensity or the power distribution of the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system according to your individual requirements.
Integrated M specific braking system
In addition to saving approximately 2 kg in weight, the integrated M specific braking system of the BMW M4 Competition Coupé provides very high braking dynamics. For a maximum level of individualisation, the driver can choose between “Comfort” and “Sport” brake pedal parameters according to the situation. Depending on the parameters, the response behavior is designed differently. In “Sport” mode, deceleration is higher with the same distance of pedal travel particularly at low speeds while the response of the two parameter settings is very similar at high speeds.
BMW Head-Up Display.
The full-colour BMW Head-Up Display with M specific functions projects information relevant for the journey directly into your field of vision. With the press of a button, the driver can switch to the M specific display, which includes a gear indicator, the rpm as a dynamic range curve with shift lights indicating the optimal moment to shift as well as navigation tips.
Centre console control panel.
In the easy-to-reach centre console control panel, the M MODE button below the Start/Stop button allows you to change the contents of the display. The SETUP button offers even more choice for configuring the vehicle characteristics. It opens the menu for individual adjustments to the driving dynamics. Red Start/Stop button.
The red Start/Stop button allows the engine to be started without using the key once the vehicle has been unlocked. It can also be used to stop the engine. The vehicle key is recognised automatically, without having to insert it.
