ROAD SAFETY.
Road transport remains the least safe mode of transport today with annual fatalities clocking over 140,000 in India alone. The Indian Government is also committed to significantly reduce the road fatalities. As an automobile manufacturer, BMW Group India firmly believes that in addition to making safest products with focus on passive and active safety in the vehicles, it is also imperative to promote road safety in our society.
With the “Be Safe, Be Smart” program we reach out to schools, and spread awareness about road safety in an engaging manner that excite our young audience, while also assessing their learnings.
The program is focused on students in the age-group of 5-8 years (Class 1-3) and has two components - “In-Class workshop” which covers various aspects of road safety followed by an “Experiential Learning”, where students apply road safety techniques learnt during the workshop. They ride in toy cars and bikes in a simulated environment, experiencing a real traffic situation.
The program educates them on various aspects of traffic rules, choices to be made to avoid breaking traffic rules and also take measures to keep themselves safe while travelling on public roads, identify reasons leading to an accident, role of emergency vehicles and more.
